~ My First… Spank! ~

Saturday night saw us at “Burlesque Bordello’s,” produced by BOOBY TRAP, as part of the Anywhere Theatre Festival, and supported by Lady Marlene's School of Arts. The burlesque performance brought us back to the 1950s, and presented the 1950s’ idea of domestic happiness through a witty burlesque performance by the Jones’ and their maids. Burlesque Bordello was my first… Burlesque performance!

The venue was rather unexpected as it was set in a house, and we were surprised at how well they made use of all the space from the patio, to the living room and even the garage. It was 10 minutes away from the city, and once we got there, we just know we were at the right place, with all the live music and fairy lights not to be missed. Especially the friendly front-of-house, who welcomed us with a “HEY-ARE-YOU-HERE-FOR –BURLESQUE-BORDELLO?!”

A maid in her sexy maid outfit with suspenders, aprons, greeted us at the reception and brought us to the grab some punch at the Hawaiian-themed Tiki Bar! The guy behind the calypso drums was amazing, and together with the punch fountain, flamingo cutouts and lei (Garland) hanging around the bottom patio, it was as though we were in some bar in Hawaii. The maids started dancing to the song ‘Mystery Girl’ and everyone was singing together, the atmosphere was heightened with a cooba-line as we mingled with the other audiences and started dancing to the music while sipping our punch/wine/beer.

The Jones greeted us from the top patio with their 1950s outfit and hairstyles. The moment the couple got touchy, you know you’re in for something cheeky, naughty and sexual~ It was actually tiring to look up at them, and I was so amused when they introduced their maids and explained the BIG NO NO’s with some not-subtle maid demonstrations! Bet the guys were wishing they could do a demonstration too. :P

*CAUTION: don’t stay too close to the front if you’re allergic to bananas, cream or nuts!

It just gets crazier and naughtier when you move into the Jones’ house. I’ll try not to drop many spoilers. I was initially curious as to how the seating arrangements would be like since it was in a house, and they were about to house over twenty guests! TA-DA! Cushions! We had cushions and a few 50s-liked chairs. OMG! Don’t ever complain about sitting on low-grounds, cos’ whatever ends up in your face when any maid bends down, you’d be staring your eyes out. It’s pretty much an in-yer-face theatre, both literally and physically (if you get what I mean). The sexual innuendos were explicit and the room’s constantly heated up with the dance moves and clothes flying around. The heat just never dies, from Mrs Jones to Kimmi Doll and her ‘Marilyn Monroe’ resemblance (*Spoiler: Just watch her work those gloves.) The maids even took over the stage with their naughty bananas and pelvis thrust actions. (*Prepare to get sweep off your seats just to grab a bite of… you know what~) They made all of us burst into laughter with their innocent, sexy, naughty, and oops-did-I-do-something-wrong expressions.

Just when you’re comfy in your cushion, wanting more from the maids, you’re moved to a closed dungeon – a S*X dungeon. Burlesque isn’t always about females, and I really enjoyed watching a mister in the dance. There have always been films and whatnot caved in to the male gaze, so, it was fascinating to watch Mr Jones doing a solo in his mankinis. The whole cast came together in their sexy lingerie dancing with their tits out and butt flashes that everyone felt so inspired by their confidence and passion.

At the end of the day, the performance wasn’t just about them, and that kinda came as a surprise to me, since most performance/theatre would focus on the casts/characters/storyline. This, however, was also about the audience and their participation, as no one, quoting the casts, would fall for a ‘starfish.’ The casts genuinely showed their appreciation to the audiences, and it was such an enjoyable night that the ending felt almost abrupt. When the garage door opened, most of us just stayed around in the dungeon, waiting in line to get spanked by the girls, and a chance to sit on Mr Jones’ lap.

*Audience: In fact, couples were actually more cuddle-ly during the performance, and it’s making me not want to know what’s gonna happen in the bedroom after the show.

* Ladies and gentlemen could also learn a thing or two about flirting and seduction, as well as how some household stuff could be used for GREATER things.

Kudos to the casts of “Burlesque Bordello,” as well as the crews, for their awesome show! It was a night of experience in the house of the Jones’! You never know what goes behind doors until you ‘invite’ yourself into one!
