~ Taste of soy ~

you're a comfort,
a sense of ease.
you fill up the emptiness inside,
and keeps one contented.

well, the other day, i actually decided to do something 'stupid' with S.
though the idea's been on my head for ages,
i nvr actually thought about really doing it~ or shd i say, making it.
we did anyway~!
YUPPPP it's SOY BEAN MILK!!
Disclaimer: rmb not to make soy bean milk with a shirt that reveals your belly.

we bought a huge pack of soy beans and actually used them all at one go!
if you don't plan to tire your hands so much, prolly use half a bag otherwise use the whole pack all at once~
soak the beans overnight, and boil them before you add them into the blender.

fill one-third of the blender with soy beans
and add water that just covers the beans.

BLEND IT~!~!
(this is only half blended, cos i had to stop to take a pic! hahaha)
add more water if the mixture is too thick, and stir it with a spatula if needed.

then, when it's all blended, pour it into the huge pot.
then, it's back to blending more beans and pouring it in to the pot.
this is when the cycle went on and on that it felt like it was endless~
but i got better at blending towards the end :)

boil the huge pot for about 20minutes,
and as we were boiling there were lots of foam forming on the top,
that's when you realise you're not allowed to take a rest while it's boiling..
cos' we need to continue scooping out the foam
and stir the THICK soy milk as it's boiling.

this part was really interesting!
pour the soy milk into a sieve, and start squeezing!
it felt like i was milking a cow or... hahahaha
but the soy milk was still hot, so we thought of something :P
we used a pair of tongs to squeeze the soy milk out!

before you start to squeeze it out, it looks like this on the inside of the sieve.

then by the time you squeeze the soy milk out, it looks like this!
hahaha... somehow it looks like a durian here. :S
it felt like a dough, and it was still warm here :)

and when you throw it out of the sieve... it looks like this!
i would have played with it and form a little rabbit if i didn't have to continue 'milking more cows'~

while i was squeezing, S suggested making soy bean milk again next time,
and i froze on the spot. i was thinking,
"ooooh nooooo, i don't wanna make it anymore!
i'm just gonna buy it from now on!"

so, the cycle continue~ like soy bean milk coming out from a soy bean bag.
after sieving all the soy milk into a pot, add about 4 spatulas of brown sugar
or rather, add the amount based on your tastebuds :P
we had a huge pack, so we used about 4-6 spatulas of sugar!

P.S. to get rid of the soy bean smell, just add a pinch of ginger powder :)
i still smell like soy bean!! maybe i should have a ginger bubble bath!
HAHAHAHAHAA

Presenting our masterpiece..........................
hahahaha steak, with veg and corn! YUMMY!
this is what you get from blending soy beans :)
i wish!
we had to reward our hard work with a lunner/dinch/chinner
HAHAHA

alright, no more cold jokes~ TADA!
FRESH soy milk in two little espresso cups :)

our fresh soy milk had the privilege of sun-cooling at a verandah with a beautiful view!
it was such a beautiful sunset~

LOADS OF SOY MILK IN THE FRIDGE~!!!

i know soy milk means a lot to me,
it still does!
but i might have to reconsider making it again...
cos' there's so much squeezing to do~
but it was such an enjoyable process,
cos' we were laughing so much as we were exploring the making process.

it was our first try, and it was fairly good for a first try, i believe.
it's easy to make, the instructions are simple, the ingredients are easily obtainable.
yet again, i think it applies to other cooking as well;
it's the patience that one has throughout the whole making process.
i do appreciate soy milk makers, but now, i just simply love them :)
without them, i've to make my soy milk every once a week,
and prolly it wldn't turn out as nice as the ones i'm having now!
who knows? i might get disgusted with soy milk~ haha
if only soy milk is not so liquidity, i wld hug thee!
muacks!

sometimes at the weirdest, strangest moment,
you just get involved without even realising.
perhaps someone gets hurt, perhaps another gets mad,
but you just nvr know, and will nvr know.
same goes for falling for someone.
sometimes if you don't tell, the person might not know.
even hinting isn't much of a help.
if you're feeling a certain way for someone,
why take away the privilege of knowing and feeling of that person
when you can share the feeling and thought together,
may it be good or bad, happy or mad?

P.S. still tasting soy bean in my mouth :)
